This is where simulation displays step in. By simulating situations and potential crisis scenarios as accurately as possible, whether in flight, naval, air control, weapons or driving simulation, you can optimally prepare for mission critical situations. Basically we train people, through simulation, to do what you can’t train to do in real life. Barco prides itself on hiring and retaining the best of the best to create and build the training equipment to teach these individuals to make life and death decisions.
One of the best benefits we can offer is flexibility. Flexibility allows our employees time for themselves, and time with their families. We offer flexible work schedules, ability to make up time for appointments, 4 weeks PTO first year, and many more benefits. One of our employee’s favorite benefits is the 9/80 flexible work schedule allowing employees to be off work every other Friday. This has two benefits, the obvious benefit of the day off work. But with the price of gas, that’s an additional 26 days per year our associates don’t have to drive to work. Barco believes that our employees are our greatest asset. The best way to show them we trust them and want them to be happy is to be flexible.

Sebaly Shillito + Dyer (A Legal Professional Association) - 2010 and 2011 recipients
So often, employers are so focused on their own business that they ignore that employees operate in other spheres, such as their inextricably intertwined personal and social lives. Mike Moloney, Managing Partner at SS+D, says, “While a business truly may do everything in its power to impact the professional lives of its employees, if their personal or social lives remain in disarray, that next level of success may always prove elusive. At SS+D, we take a much more holistic approach to the well-being of our employees by recognizing that they have relationships inside and outside of the office that have a direct impact on their ability to function in every aspect of their lives, including work. One of our Core Cultural Values states that ‘we will constantly seek new opportunities for the firm’s and our own personal growth and strength.’ As a result, we have identified many ways to give our employees the tools that they need to deal with relationships in all aspects of their lives, not just at the office. It’s no surprise that this formula produces dramatic and sustainable results.”

Shumsky is very excited to be recognized, specifically as voted by our employees. We strongly believe that a happy work environment equates to a productive environment as well as a breeding ground for hiring new employees that are like minded to our culture. This year has been a profitable and productive one for our organization and we feel that our employees are the primary reason.
Some of the specific policies include more work from home support enabled by supplying laptops to 30% of our workforce. Also contributing is our use of web based meetings enabling employees to even travel to client sites and still participate “in person” using solutions such as Skype, etc. We’ve truly embraced technology in our efforts to create the true 21st century workplace. It’s been a great motivator to our employees.
